Macha in .hack//Sign

Also known as Mia or Macha in the games. Maha is a cat player character. She draws attention to Tsukasa, who was seen with her, at the beginning of .hack//Sign, because the Crimison Knights think that Maha was an illegally modified character. Maha is completely mute, but Tsukasa seems to know what she is saying. She helps Tsukasa on several occasions, including when Tsukasa's guardian gets out of control and when a guardian controlled by Morganna is a threat, but also kills him with a guardian and turns against him when ordered to by Morganna. Maha is killed by a guardian near the end of the series when she tries to protect Tsukasa.

In the .hack Games, there is a rumor about a purple cat-player wandering around the town. Kite finds this mysterious player, whose name is Mia, and is perplexed when talks about his "bracelet". Elk, the character in her party at the time, was confused and grew jealous of Kite because of Mia's fascination with him. Later, it is revealed that Mia is actually the 6th Phase of Morganna, Macha, and upon being defeated in battle and data drained by Kite, returns to "normal" as Mia. Macha, Maha, and Mia are all the same entity.
